Vette rally rims???

1969 Vette rally rims 15x8 with 295/50/15 on the back and 275/60/15 on the front.

I know the bolt pattern is the same but would I run into trouble with them rubbing on anything?

They should have enough offset to work just fine. They are a great looking wheel. Same as what they eventually also used on the 73-77 Chevelles.

Thanks Allan....I've always loved these rims as well and have a chance to get a nice set with almost new BFG's on them so just wanted to make sure I wouldn't run into any probs if I do decide to get them.

I'd go for it too. IMO they're a classy wheel. Best part is you can color code the steel parts to whatever color you want, or just leave them stock. I think you can get center caps that are generic and don't have Chev on them. Another good thing is they are designed to fit disc brake cars, so if you ever change over your front to discs, you're a step ahead. Can't wait to see them on your car!
I know I've seen older chevelles with SS11 and SS111s. Why not have a Cutlass with vette rally's?? 2 thumbs up bud!

ya discs are going on the front eventually lol...so it's good to know that they will fit when I do make the swap. Right now I am just focusing on getting it road worthy for the spring and next summer. It won't be pretty but it'll be on the road lol...and safe.

I am hoping to go take a look at them on Sunday.

How much on average would a set go for in really good condition with good rubber?

Here's a used set in CA... caps, but no rings: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/2788751857.html

I'm looking at these... not as cool, but still pretty nice looking:

Thanks Mak....those ones on Ebay are almost identical...hard to tell the difference. I'd say if you can't find some original ones then go for it...pricey though lol...that's why I'm going the used route

I can't speak to how the offset effects it but that size on the front won't fit an a 68 no matter what the offset. I can't imagine them fitting a 67 either.

In this thread Joe P says diameter should be under 27". Those tires are 28"

My '70 SX ragtop had 15" Corvette rally wheels on it when I bought it and I drove it from IL to PA with no rubbing issues at all. It put SSIs and Radial T/As on it shortly after arriving at home. With my user name, it's obvious that I like the Corvette rally wheels too. ; )

Terry, I'm also a fan of those wheels. Anything you can suggest about why they shouldn't work on a 67? I thought the bolt pattern was the same from 64-81.

I don't see a 275-60 getting anywhere near fitting the front.

What is the max size that would fit?

I've got 255/60/15's on 7" rims in front. Slight rub at full lock, worse if bumpy. Can't imagine anything bigger without modification.

I put a big *** Hotchkis sway bar on the front and noticed I have a small rubbing issue with the 275/60/15. That is on regular Cutlass wheels however. I have a 1971 LT1 Corvette and run the 8 inchers on that with no rub, obviously. Love that look.

So it sounds like I would be better off with the aftermarket rims than the ones from the Vette and go with a 70 series tire?

The rims sjould be OK. Its the 275 that sounds too big. i fthey are local and mounted up try them on before you buy. if theya re too big a 245/60 should fit on the front on a 8".

I run the 275's on the rear of my car and could not fathom putting anything that wide on the front. If your running the stock height on the car you can run that tall of a tire, I would go a tad narrower. Btw, I'm a big fan of Corvette Rallies!!

295/50/15's do fit on 8 inch wide wheels.

I know they fit on the rear of a 71 Cutlass no problem
