G-Body Cutlass 225/70R15 front and 255/70R15 rear
Good Day All,
The g body forums have been an excellent way to find out info from tires to gasket choices for me and have assisted me from making costly mistakes. Thank you all for your posts.
I just wanted to clear the air on G Body tire sizes as there has been a lot of confusion and hesitation involving 70 series tires on the G Body. The only photo I could find on the internet was a Monte SS with 255/70R15 rear.
I took a risk and bought 225/70R15 front and 255/70R15 rear and I must say that I am very happy with the choice. On the front they fit just fine and I have no rubbing or steering issues. On the rear they fit well too and remain well within the wheel well. The rears do get very close to the top curve of the frame rail in behind the tire but I have seen it on the hoist and it's not too bad once the lug nuts are tightened. I hope the photo's help you with your choice.

It depends on the wheels you're using too, glad it worked out for you, not all wheels have the same dimensions. At any rate, a 255/70 seems like an awfully large tire. Great if you're looking for fuel economy, maybe not the best choice for performance. Have you changed the speedo gear? With the stock gear you're going to be traveling about 12% faster than indicated on the speedometer.
