255 on 7" rim ?

I've tried to find charts on Google and I always get the one that asks for the original tire size. (Who cares?)
I just want a beefy look to my 65 Cutlass rear tires. I also want it to work properly.
I will of course fit the wheel 1st then see about the tires.
So anyone know of a chart that is basic?
TIA!

Not sure what your question is, exactly, but if you are asking will 255s fit on 7" rims, I have 255/60-15s on the stock 15x7 rims on my 69 H/O.

Asking for real world experiance (like yours-thank you!) or a easy to use chart.
I'm sure you would not stretch a wrong size on your car, so that helps!

I have run 255-60's on 7" wheels on at least 5-6 cars. Its the perfect size for that tire. 8" will work too but it stretches it out a little.

I ended up with some 15x7's off a 76 Monte Carlo standard steel wheels.
I thought I would get rid of the Corvette wheels that rub in front.
I'll test fit them w/o tires and see how the backspacing works for the 65 Cutlass. Not sure if I want to run them in front or use 14's in front for a big/little vibe.

Big question was 255 or ? Looks like that'll be my plan.

I have 255/60/15 on my Delta also. 7 inch rim and it looks great. Althought the rim range for that tire is 7 to 9

According to Tire Rack specs for 255/60R15 BFG's the rim range is 7-9", so should work fine.

I just put 255's all the way around on 67 Delta 88... but I went with 15x8 rims.
