215 vs 225

my car currently has 215/75/14 with original hubcaps. my plan was to switch to SSII and 225/70/14

below is a cut and paste from a tire calculator.. it doesn't seem like much of a noticeable difference.. Is it worth switching?

I'd look for 15" wheels, your limited in tire sizes for the 14's. If you like the look of the diameter of the tire's you have on there now, the 3/10th's of an in gain will not effect anything, if thats your question.

Very nice on the homework/mathwork. I guess my only question is, how old are your 215/75/14? Bare in mind that most manufacturers suggest 8-10 years on tires. Also 14" rubber is getting tougher to get, as far RWL tires in that size P225/70/14 your down to three choices!

the tires are fine, looks like at least 60% tread left,
as far as tires If I go 225/70/14 I am going to go with BFG radial T/A

The fact that there is 60% tread left is irrelevant. You were asked now OLD are the tires. Read the date code on the tire. If it is 8 years old or more toss it out & repalce.

14" tires are a waste of good rubber. Buy some 15" rims & enjoy the looks & handling that only a 15" tire will afford.

Not that you may have seen the tire/wheel combo before but here it is, exact per your specs.

Yes sir! I used to have Uniroyal tiger paws RWL the same size but they are NLA. Major branded left are BFG T/A, Cooper Cobras and Firestone Firehawks indy 500

Dollar wise BFG's are in the middle, quiet ride good side profile but not so great looking tread pattern.

Sorry to Highjack a post.

I have a super clean set of 14" stock wheels, original to the car. I was hoping to keep these wheels on and then maybe get some aftermarkets, cragers with tires a little larger and wider once i get the car fixed up. I currently have the 14" stock and 15" keystone wheels for the car with rotten tires (haven't been driven for 20+years).

I am trying to decide between 225-70-14 all around or 245-60-14 rear/235-60-14 front.

I like the size of the 70, but the width looks better for the 60.
