Vista restoration

Have a 72 vista that is almost finished .
Body and paint this winter viking blue original color.
When we disassemble the vista i would like to replace as many rubber gaskets as possible ,where do i find the rubber gasket between tail gate and rear bumper?( all rubber)
also bumper fillers and the small long window
gaskets that run along the top side windows?
And last ,does any co. Reproduce interior door panels etc?
Thanks steve

Steve,

I believe you can find most of your rubber items through Fusick, or directly from Steele, or Metro. Door panels are not reproduced, but a good auto upholstery shop should be able to accommodate you. Good luck.

Thanks Mr. Funkwagon. That is an awesome resource.

My car is being painted now and I have been looking for these parts to finish the tailgate.

Nobody makes repro door panels for any vista's. SMS may list or say they do but there process is you must send them yours for them to rebuuild/reproduce.

I think that's correct. From what I've seen so far they have all the accurate materials too. I even had the correct cargo floor vinyl reproduced in blue.

My 1972 VC bench seats were already reupholstered when I bought mine, so I decided to switch them over to the SMS/ Oldsmobile blue floral cloth material, like some of the Cutlass vehicles used. Oddly, the seats were only offered in all vinyl in blue, but they did also have a nice two-tone cloth design in gold, so I'm going to copy that on my Viking blue car. Does anyone know if the back of the front bench seat is supposed to have a 6 inch band of matching carpet just like the bottom of the door panels or are the seat backs supposed to be all vinyl? What about the head rests? Did the VC use vinyl or cloth to go with the cloth seats? (Here are some pictures of the seats with the gold cloth design)

I have an original 72. The back of the 72 VC front bench has the band of matching carpet like the door panels. Eyeballing it, looks like the carpet goes to the same level as the bottom of the chrome strip on the door.

Thanks John

I'm also trying to figure out what that second cloth fabric on the seats is after I realized it isn't vinyl? I'd love to see pictures of a restored bench seat with that floral two tone design and find out whether the materials were sourced from SMS or somewhere else. (Either in gold or blue)
