Been real busy with house projects this summer, but managed to get a little more done to my 47. Got the motor and tranny cleaned up and painted and put into place to get the mounts mocked up. I'll be fabricating those soon, then I'll be able to get the frame finished and in paint too! Running out of warm temps, though, so it might take me a while to get that far. The motor was decent running to begin with, so all I did was clean it and regasket it. The mains and rod bearings looked good so they stayed put. The motor is out of a 77 so it has webbed mains, which is why I didn't go full blown rebuild on it. It will be fine for now, though someday I will build something nice for it! Anyway, here are a couple pics to share.

Ya know, I let go a perfectly good 79 motor a while back. I should of kept it. Not that much wrong with the 77-79 motors. They will at least, get you moving.

Yep, a stock 77-79 is a decent motor, they just don't lend themselves to hot rodding too much. As long as it runs well when done I'll be happy!

Thanks for the progress photos. I know the front suspension went in some time ago but I am still impressed that you did it right putting in the whole Corvette assembly. Motor and transmission look great mocked up in the chassis. If you have a heat source in the garage it looks like you could keep on working on detailing the frame through the winter.

It's just a stock 77 Olds 350 with a 200-4R behind it. And thanks

 

Jerry, the beauty of the C4 front suspension is that it comes out of the donor in one piece like that. It saves the headache of trying to set up the geometry yourself! I have a small portable heater I can use in the garage, but it's not much help on the real cold days. We should have a little more mild weather here before those temps hit though, so maybe I can get the frame cleaned up for paint this year. That would make me very happy
