I've got a 1949 Olds 88 with a Rochester AA carb. The carb has an ID tag with numbers that match a 1950 model. Im looking for an original Borroughs Carburetor Tool. The kind mentioned in my 1949 service manual. It calls for a BT-17 to adjust the Choke rod, unloader, fast idle (AA 1949-50) marked. I found one but have since discovered a nearly identical tool is later known as the BT-35. It's listed for a 1950 Oldsmobile with Rochester AA carb. Id THINK since I have a carb from a 1950 go ahead and get the BT-35 but Im not sure because the only difference between the BT-17 and the BT-35 is a small wire on the tool. To add to the mystery, I can't find a use for that wire in my service manual. Does anyone know what the wire is used for? The other components of the tool are basically spacers to check gaps. I dont NEED this tool, but I like the thought of having an original tool when setting up the carb.
