Parts interchangability

Ok here's the scoop. i have a 55 Olds super 88 that I am in the process of gathering everything up for to start wirking on it. i have come across a 56 Olds 4 door. Will any of these parts interchange? Both cars are fairly complete the 55 is mising the engine and trans and the 56 is missing the interior. please let me know.
Thanks
Jeff

phsarge, I would pick it up if it were me( providing the price is right),you never know what you may need off a parts car.

Most of the engine and trans parts will interchange, but there are two different transmissions in 56 both will bolt up the same but the late 56 has a park feature that the 55 doesn't so you would have to change out the gear change indicator on the steering wheel to be correct.

Most trim parts won't swap out nor will hoods and probably not doors.Rear bumper will but won't look correct. Dash is different but a lot of the ***** and handles are the same.

Wheels rear ends and many suspension parts are the same not sure about windshield and side glass. I would make a list of needs and see what you can salvage of the other car.You can recoup a lot of your investment by selling what you don't need. Just my thoughts ....Tedd

Be a little more specific...your '55 Super 88 - what is it? 2 door / 4 door / post car / hardtop...and the '56 four door - is it a sedan or a holiday hardtop?

Doors and all glass (including windscreens) interchange - as do door handles (outside) - 55 & 56 4 dr hardtops are by themselves for outside door handles - drivetrain and suspension should all interchange although later '56 had a different transmission (Jetaway - had a "P" for Park) - front and rear sheet metal is different - although the trunk lids may interchange - not 100% sure on that - should be plenty of stuff on the '56 for you if the price is right and the things I mention above are good and you need them. I've got some experience with the 4 door hardtops so let me know if you need some direction.

Oops, I thought we were talking about a 55 two door compared to a 56 four door. My mistake... Tedd
