Intake Manifold

I've got this 51 S88 with what I know is not a stock intake. It's a 4 barrel. I need to replace the carb to manifold gasket but can't seem to find the manifold number so I can get the right gasket. According to the number on the carb it's a 4 barrel Rochester from a 58 Chebby 348.

The intake manifold number is 561597. Can someone tell me what it is from?

thanks

If you need to replace the carburetor to manifold gasket just remove the carburetor and take the gasket to an auto parts store. You should be able to match up the old gasket to one you need. I bet you need a square bore, 4 barrel carburetor to intake gasket.

It will probably look something like this:

Did that. I went to NAPA, Car Quest, Advance, Auto Zone, and Pep Boys. I looked it up at Kanter and Fusick and nothing there either. Nobody could match it. I did find it on e-bay but I didn't want to wait. The gasket you refer to is close but to large. I wound up getting some gasket material and cut my own out.

I would still like to know what this manifold is from if possible.

That's a bummer that you weren't able to find a match. I tried "googling" the number you provided but didn't come up with anything.

I think you're "home made" gasket will work for now. I've done the same for various gaskets and seals that are hard to find.

That's the problem that I have. My parts book goes to 53 and my Hollander goes to 56 and that manifold number is not in either one. It is a stock Olds manifold, just not for a 51. As you probably already know, Olds didn't come out with a 4 barrel till 52.

Well, I recently pulled a 4 bbl intake from a 1955 324 and it had a different casting number. If your references go before and after 54-55 then it might be a reasonable guess that its a 1954?

I know we have some 1954 owners on the site. You might create a new thread with the title saying something like: "Can anyone tell me if intake number 561597 is from a 1954?"

I believe 55 is 568986 so it could very well be a 54, as far as I know all accessories and carburetors will exchange from 54 to 55 I would think gaskets would also be the same....Tedd
