Heater control valve removal

I can't seem to find(in my shop manual) how the heater control valve is removed, mine is not shutting off and the heater is on all the time. Has anyone done this repair, removal and can the valve be rebuilt without having to have some special tools.....Tedd

replaced mine a few months ago, there were two sheet metal bolts at the top of the firewall insulator that held it in place.I bought a repaired unit from fusick because mine was leaking. Are you sure the cable isnt broken or popped off?
