headlight switch
headlight switch
I'm looking for a headlight switch for a 42,46 or 47. Part number 1995026. My rheostat is broken and dash lights won't work. Also does anyone know if the switch for the glove box light is a mercury switch? It looks like a fat short fuse holder and I have power to it and the light works if I bypass the switch. Would anyone know where to get one of those. Thanks
Found this one on ebay.

Also this one, but it says it's for a 48. Looks the same to me, but not sure if it is.

Ditto Chevs of the 40s
x2 on that plus their service is good. I live about 20 mi. from them and go there several times a year. Sometimes it works that Chevy parts work on 60 series Olds and sometimes not but its worth a shot. I am going there this afternoon to compare some door handle hardware for my 47 series 60.
Whatever headlight switch you get wire it in with a Bosch type relay meant to handle the higher current load. It will make your headlight switch last a lifetime. With the relay your switch will have about a 1 amp or less load on it rather than 10 amp +/- load that it gets if wired the factory way. Lots of information on the Internet about wiring a headlight switch with a relay.

I bought a complete dash weeks ago and disassemblked it... maybe I can help with a useable old original part?!
I´m unable to post pictures here... so contact me: rockinroller@gmx.de
I send you pictures - and will ship anywhere! :-)
