Gas pedal removal

Hi. I need some guidance on how to remove the gas pedal on my 1956 88? I am installing a new master cylinder and need to pull back the carpet. Thanks

I moved your post to its own thread, no need to hijack an irrelevant old thread. Someone should chime in and help.

It should just pop off the gas pedal rod which fits into a rubber cup on the bottom of the pedal. If you need to remove the whole pedal I believe there is a pin at the bottom that can be removed and that will allow you to lift the whole thing off... Tedd

On my 54 the pedal itself just pops onto two little studs at the bottom of the pedal that have a little ball on them. The pedal is not connected to the linkage at all. It just pushes against it.
