Stock clear glass has quite a bit of green in it, are sure it's been tinted at the factory? I just went through this with a side door glass that I had replaced this summer, looked green but was factory clear, everything matched ......Tedd
I ordered all new side glass so it will all match regardless,i did look at the numbers on the quarter glasses i have and they arent even close to the same numbers but they do look lightly tinted ,they are yellow around the edges and they are starting to come apart at the edges where they are laminated.I havent been able to locate any numbers on the windshield or either of the back windows i have though ,i need to take them down and clean them up ,they got a bit dusty over the last 7 years somehow.

thats not even my car..its the model..but i havent picked it up yet..its actually in wyoming and there is aaaalot of work to be done...thats just a car i found on the internet and changed its colors and drew flames on..for fun while i wait..the car was actually red and white to begin with..gotta love photoshop..

I saw a lot of pictures posted on 56 windshield replacement. Take a look at this thread and see if it has what you want.
Does anyone have a source for the cardboard backer on the door and quarter panel trim?
East Coast Chevy has it for their 210's (post cars) - not sure how close it is - I've spoken with them before and they were willing to sell me a quantity of the trunk insulation material in lieu of the precut pieces (since olds is different than chevy) - so they may be willing to do that for the door pieces too.
There has to be a source because a lot of upholstery guys make their own
Do you have the old backers ? They used my old ones as patterns and cut new ones off the old. Or in a pinch I have used thin cardboard and made patterns then transfered then to the thicker backer...Just a thought.....Tedd
Yes i have the old ones but they are in rough shape and smelly to from setting in a barn for so long.Oldsdad,i bought the 210 ones from cars inc about 8 years ago and the door ones just need a bit of trimming around the edges to fit but the quarter ones are about an inch to short in the back by the seat back.Thanks I also thing it can be bought by the sheet in black which is waterproof on both sides as the old was only waterproof on one side.

My interior Guy has one that's cardboard and waterproof on one side or one that's some kind of plastic its a little thicker but is waterproof. Maybe your Guy could have these?
my guy has nothing ,she usually doesnt do cars but in the winter it gets slow for boat work and she does a nice job.Right now she is redoing a 63 t-bird and ive seen her do a austin healy.She also did some work on my sold boat .I have another guy but hes too busy doing 4 restorations on old collector glasstron boats for a hotel chain owner and wont be available untill june at the earliest.Two of the boats hes making into james bond duplicates which he has done a resto on the original.
Well found a source for the boards,precut to factory specs from SMS fabrics.Two doors and two quarters were 150 before shipping.The upholsterer said about 6 weeks for the interior to be finished.That will give me time to install the new side glass that will be here tomorrow.Any tips on putting the new channels and felts on,i dont have a staplegun big enough so i was thinking small rivets for the felts or wipers on the trim rings,and i will have to order a bunch of clips for the door edge wipers,already have the vent seals and division post rubber here.Also how do you remove the old glass from the channel without making a mes ,thinking heat gun mabey?Thanks Glen
Anyone know of a way to remove the dried yellow gorilla snot weatherstripping adhesive with out messing up the paint job? My door jams need help in this area. I've tried goo-gone and goof-off without much success, any body have any better ideas?
Isn't it a shocker how much rubber parts cost anymore,you can tie up a $100 bill just doing a wind wing seal and heaven forbid you have to replace a roof rail for about $400. I'm still in shock.....Tedd
Try 3m adhesive remover Tedd,other than that mabey some PPG 330DX,but be careful with it too much may make paint smear.Put some on a spot and let it set a few minutes then try a bondo spreader to scrape it a bit.
I have about a grand in new rubber parts mabey more that are slowly being installed on the car as it goes back togeather. Glen

hi i am new here and have questions on the jetaway transmission. while taking it apart i came across six pieces that came from the neutral clutch assembly. i was told by an old mechanic that the parts were broken and should be attached to the neutral clutch housing. is this true?
I own three different models of this beautiful year. One, is a 1956 98 Holiday Sedan which is restored and it took me 20 years to do it. I am restoring the Super 88 Holiday Sedan now and been working on that one now for 4 years which I hope to have complete this year. It is the same B/W color scheme as my 98 which is one reason why I wanted to restore it. I have a Super 88 post car I may fix up too if I live that long...LOL. Here are a few pictures of the 98:
I have been installing the new headliner today,what a pain but it came out pretty nice .I still have to get the heat gun after it to shrink some wrinkles out.I have never done one before so mabey its not perfect.Anyway i need to see some pics of the inner b-pillar area to finish it up,are those just cardboard backers in there,mine was not completely installed home made fur by the previous owner.And what are these and where do they go?

i have a 1956 super 88 4 door and that is where it is on my car, or at least thats what it looks like.

Whipolds, There is a conversion available from CMWauto.com, runs about, $200 bucks or you can modify a 55 56 chevy electric motor to fit your Olds, this is what I'm doing. As I understand this is a relative easy conversion I'll post on here when I'm finished.....Tedd

Tedd - I had read some where that these conversions will not work with the original bat wing air cleaner. Are you able to get around that?

Newport Engineering makes the conversion motor. You need to buy the extension piece for the switch as an extra so you can keep the original switch for the dash. The motor looks like one made for that era and the wipers work great with two speeds so unless you are a diehard original kind of fan knowing they didn't make electric for that year, most people won't know.. I got tired of the vacuum motor as they hardly worked. I bought mine through eBay and you can ask before you buy for the switch extension. No problem fitting with the air cleaner.
