I posted in the parts wanted section but will ask here if any of you have a good rebuildable 56 4-bl Rochester carb for sale.

Thanks

Hood Adjustment

Before I go any further, I wanted to know if any of you 56 Olds owners could give me some advise. I had the hood hinges rebuilt and I installed them yesterday. When the hood is closed, it fits good. As I go to open it feels a little stiff and the back end comes up before the pivot . It does not seen to open as high as it did before. Can this be adjusted further or should I leave it alone. I tightened the bolts under the dash before I opened it while the hood was in proper position. Still a great improvement so far,but I would like to get it as close to perfect as I can.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Also if anybody needs the shop manual I am sure we can work out a way for you to get it. It's 115mb just let me know and I will do what I can to get it to you.
cool, another thing I forgot to mention, don't get rid of the old harness you will need the wires that hook up under dash to the cluster and other things like clock , and courtessy lights

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. I just pulled my windshield today but I have to halt all my projects until I get home.

Who did your hinges? That sounds like something I might need to consider before the other hood goes in. My hinges feel like if they want to fold my current hood in half

Hood Hinges

Erit - I had the hinges done at SMS Auto Restoration Services - Derry NH 800-989-6660 www.sms-auto.com Talk to Rod
They did a great job - turn around was less than two weeks. I had a set of hinges from a parts car - that made it easy - A couple of buddies came over and helped me swap them out and it was done in an hour.

Nice you have to take a bunch of pictures I love seeing them in pieces and coming back to life, good luck with the build and welcome to CO. Also if you get stuck and can't figure out where something goes or where to find some part feel free to ask, I'll do my best

New here.

I love the paint MR. Golds56.

I posted this question on the newbie forum but only had one response. I am looking for these parts I'm not sure what they are. I have a Father Son project 56 88 4 door. My Dad and I have had this car since 93. We are finally getting to it. The car was in good shape when we bought it. Just needed little things, but in his quest to make it more than a driver, my Dad started taking it apart. Now there is one missing part so far. I am not sure what it is, all I know is it bolts on down by the spindle and I think behind the drum backing plate. Here are a couple pics of the part and one of the car how she sits now.

@ Diesl899,
Erit had posted pics of his disc brake install on another thread. It shows the part you are asking about nicely...see photo...I also attached a pick of the backside of my drum...it shows (poorly) which way the bolts go in.

Parts needed

I realized I wasn't clear with my previous post. I am looking for the passenger side parts, cover, spacers and bolts. If someone could help me out with where I can get one or a set. Are they going to be the same on other GM brand cars. Or do I need them if I do a disc brake conversion. My Dad mentioned Kanters having a kit for it but I have not been able to find it on their website.

I still have all the parts that came off mine. Let me see where they are at in the shed and I'll take some pics and pm you what I have. BTW, disk would be a better option, new parts and all that old stuff you could toss out. So far I love my kit and it was a real simple install no cutting or welding straight bolt in kit. Yet if you feel you want to go original let me know when you get the pics

Glen - I used Classic Auto Glass for both my 2 door sedan and my 4 door hardtop - if you know anyone who goes to Carlisle, he sets up there and ships for free with a show purchase - usually about an $80 difference! I've done that twice now. I've also gotten vent wings for my 4 door sedan from vintage auto glass (restoglass.com) but they're in Montana so the shipping is a killer. I think any one of these guys can cut it - biggest question is if they have the green glass (assuming you have the EZ EYE)

Golds 56 - I have a tinted rear glass if you need one. I took it out of a parts car . My glass is clear so I will not use it.

Golds56. Abes auto glass in Howell MI cut the glass for our rear door. This was a few years ago but they had the patterns still. I will pm you with the number.
