Thanks guys! I agree; my problem is i hate shopping and there's always way too many choices and I'll narrow it down to a few cameras and then they'll come out w/ an even better one! LOL! (I'm like the Steve McQueen character in his great movie 'The Bounty Hunter' LOL~! "I DON'T like new stuff! New stuff is no good!..." )
VERY NICE '56s though guys! keep up the great work!

I am a new to the forum but I have had my 56 for about 9 months. I drove it to some local car shows this summer but now I am stripping the chrome to prep for paint. I need a Super 88 door emblem if any has one they would be willing to sell. I should get my door panels back soon and I will post pictures of the new door panels.

Another 56 checking in from California
I am new old fart to the CO and have restored numerous cars over the years. My first car was a 1950 Ford business coupe purhased for $100.00 in 1962 when I was 16. After my stint in the service, I bought a 1961 AH "bugeye" sprite for $650.00. It was cherry and a blast to drive. Then I upgraded to a 1967 AH 3000 ($1400.00) a very fun car that I never dreamed would be selling for upwards of $50,000.00!
My foray into GM cars was a 1967 Firebird convertible frame off restoration that I completed in 1983 and sold for $6,000.00!
Currently I am restoring a 56 4 door holiday. I will post better pics of the project soon. At present, the engine is in the machine shop in placerville CA awaiting arrival of master engine kit from Falcon Global. I hope it is a quality kit. The cyl bores had to go .040 over due to a heavy ridge at the tops. The Mains and rod bearings will go .010. The heads are getting new valve guides and hard seats. Of course I am installing new lifters, rockers, shafts and and push rods as well. Hopefully it will be a good running engine.
In the meantime, I am working on the left front fender which has a small dent toward the front and needs a small patch panel at the bottom. Probably the biggest job I will have is to cut and weld in new floors (aargh!).
I am glad I found the forum and look forward to further participation.

Here's mine, a 98 4 dr Holiday sedan... gotta love AZ cars, virtually no rust underneath, minor surface rust only on the trunk, and most chrome is really nice and pit free! Rose Mist and White in color.
Anyone know of a 1956 98 4 dr in a junkyard, or available for parts?
I need:
- lower stainless strip for the front passenger door
- chrome housings that go around the passenger side back-up light.
- original re-build-able radiator
thanks
Roger in NY

Ck this web page out;
http://www.restored-classic.com/oldsmobile-parts/
they are currently selling a 4dr 98 in cali, the guy may be able to work with you and sell some parts, but you have to be a member of the page. Sad thing is you have to pay for a membership, this used to be a free page like craigslist
Erit
btw also saw someone is selling radiators in the same page but he was smart and put his number
828-652-4501

Thanks Erit and all, I think I've found the door trim and radiator, and I can have my existing backup light trim restored, if I have to (big $$$ though!).
Job #1 is getting her up and running, which will take another big infusion of
capital. No doubt it's cheaper in the long run to start with a restored car, but then you'd miss all the fun!!

My 56 Super 88 Holiday Mild Custom
A long time ago in a place far, far away I was raised among Oldsmobiles. My fondness for the brand must be a trate past on from father to son.
Remember the commercial with a tag line "Not your father's Oldsmobile"? Well, in my case that is somewhat of a true statement. My father had many Oldsmobiles, among them were a 55 and 57. At that time I was the same age as the cars less the five decades. I remember the 55 two door post and the times my dad would let me sit on his lap and steer the Olds down the road to my grandparents farm. A vivid memory from the age of 5. I can also remember a trip to a transmission repair shop to get the bands adjusted in the HydraMatic transmission in 56. Dad says he didn't like the lines of the 56 so he didn't buy one that year. However, the day the 57's were introduced he grabbed a white over yellow Super 88 two door Holiday. I remember one winter day after a freezing rain and snow the time my dad showed me how fast the 57's speedometer needle could go. After pulling onto an icy patch of road going about 10 mph he floored it. To my amazement I watched the needle reach and go past the 120 mph mark. Wow! One very impressed 7 year old for sure.
OK so how did I end up with why I got a 56. Because I liked both the 55 and 57 buying one over the other would not have left me satisfied. The more I studied the lines of all three years the more I grew to like the 56. So... when I saw this 56 on ebay this past summer I had to at least make an offer on it.
In the end it became mine. The mild custom on the car really shows off the nice flowing lines without the distraction of the logo chrome and door handles. The American Weld ProStar wheels do look good and I think complement the custom look.
Here are the first two pictures from when I first saw it in person. Please note the driver's door was not closed completely.

I have two clocks for parts, one is an early type super deluxe (stainless face with 3 nuts in the back) the other is a late type deluxe (single nut in the back black out face). If anybody needs parts or just wants to convert their working early type into a super deluxe I want $25+5 shipping for both. Both of these are for parts only and most parts don't interchange between the two types. Stainless face, needles, chrome ring housing, plastic face, adjustment ****, pretty much everything is different.

Pls see here my Super 88 convertible.
Looking at the 56 Olds around, it seems that there are only a few left, and most are not really in mint condition!
It is easy to buy a Chevy Belair, but no 56 Convertibles are offered in the market place. Where did they all go?
Not knowing that this is the correct forum to post 56 questions, I posted them in other areas here:
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-body-tag.html
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-trim-tag.html
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...g-germany.html

Would be nice, if you guys could help!
