59 Super 88 jack points

Hi,

I know the 1959 Super 88 is a variation on the x frame, so I want to see if anyone had an idea for the best places in the front and rear to jack it up and best places to position four jack stands to get underneath.

Thanks for your help,

Darren

Can you still get the jack under the differential when there’s a sway bar there like on a 68 442? —Billy

To answer your question; Yes, if you use a 2" Rubber pad on your Jack pad you can center the Differential on the jack and clear the Sway-bar

Differential stable?

The differential looks like something I have not seen before. On the x frame it looks to me a little under-supported. I could be wrong of course.

Also, what is the best place in the front, and where should I position the jack stands?

The help is really appreciated. I am thankful to have you guys.

Never had a 59 but if it has a X frame any place on it should be hell for stout or on the frame rail edge..... Tedd

4 jacks

Just found the service manual. It says “When supporting car in a jack or floor stands the car should be supported at the suspension points only. Under no circumstances should the car be supported at the center of the “X” member or the extreme ends of the frame. It then has this picture (see diagram) I circled what I think are the probable points, numbering them 1-4 for the jacks. My question is if my 3 and 4 positions are correct?

Or do they mean by the differential and front crossmember?

Thanks!
