That appears to be the same spring that was used between the relay rod and the tie rods and idler arm also. The group number is 6.888 and the part number is 264949. It was used from 1939 to 1958, at least. Unfortunately, I have no spares, nor do I know where to get one.

Probably not Chevy but maybe Buick or Pontianak. You could Google the part number and see if it comes up.....Tedd

The Chevy parts book doesn't show any group 6.888 or part number 264949. The only spring shown is group 6.876, which also shows in the Olds book, but is for the ends of the relay rod (which Chevy calls the steering connecting rod). On that there is a part number match between the 1939-1955 Olds and the 1953-1961 Corvette, but doesn't do much good as it is not the part needed. Apparently the Olds/Chevy designs were different. I don't have the Buick, Pontiac, or Cadillac parts books.

Thanks guys. My customer had to buy a used Cadillac steering box assembly with pitman arm that has the correct spring attached. I believe Olds and Cadillac used same spring. Also, finally found a NOS turn signal harness assembly for the paltry sum of $425.00.
