1947 hood won’t open

I got my 1947 olds 76 running last Friday. I had a mechanic help me he shut the hood it didn’t go down all the way. Then he shut it harder it went down. Went to open it now it seams like the cable won’t pull far enough to alow it to release. Any suggestions how to get it open.

I doubt the OP will respond. He hasn't been active in 3 years.

I suggest accessing the hood latch from the bottom. Hopefully there's enough room that you can reach up and activate the latch.

x2 As Jesse suggested. I haven't done this myself on a 1947 Olds, but I've done it on a couple older vans & another member recently had this happen. With a long screwdriver or crow-bar, you should be able to leverage the latch & pop it open.
