Won’t stay in Park

Hello,
I recently purchased a 1970 442 w/455 automatic floor mounted shift and it will not stay in park. If I really slam it home sometimes it will stay….maybe once out of 20 times I’m just wondering if anyone has had this same probables and if it is just an adjustment on the linkage underneath the car. Does anyone have pictures of what I may need to adjust?

Do some research on "Parking Pawl".
Just a guess from your description, but that is where I would start.

Sounds as if either the backdrive linkage from the transmission to the steering collar or the shifter cable itself needs to be adjusted.

I found the Dual Gate shifter takes a bit of trial and error to get adjusted correctly so it goes into first gear on the one end and Park on the other end of the travel.
