Which Transmission vendor?
Okay, I'm looking at a few of the sites for a built 200R4 and I'm a little confused here.
I looked at CK, Bowtie, Cali, PATC, Summit, and Jakes. Bowtie comes in the cheapest with the Alto or red eagle clutches, 10 vane pump and harded input shaft. Some places don't use a hardened shaft until the stage 3 area.
I'm not really looking at the stages, I'm looking at the torque ratings all these guys have listed.
I'm putting this behind a 330 Hi Comp motor which is pretty much stock except for full exhaust (yes, I'm talking headers) Edlebrock 7111 intake and going to probably have a ram air type system like "Ram Air Box" The motor does have the WG hi compression heads. From what I've read this motor was rated around 310 to 320 HP and 360 ft/lbs
I know it's not going to be a super fast car, but it will be the fastest car I've ever owned.
My question, how can Bowtie come in about $600 cheaper than everybody else? Of course I like the price, but I'm learly about it at the same time.
There is a an 86 Monte Transmission in a junkyard here in Philly. Didn't say SS or not.
Thoughts?

^^ OK, I'll look into them. Just breezed thru the site kinda quick (I'm at work right now )
Read a few threads on different boards, including ROP and I think, at least for now, I'm going to stick with my stock 200R4, but get the recalibration kit "B" from CK Performance and their TCC lock up kit. Still on the fence, but can get the $$$ to buy a new tranny right now, but I'd rather wait and pay cash instead of credit

What are your goals for the new trans?
Cruising, weekly rounds at the local strip with sticky tires, full on race car?
Are you handy? Overhauling one your self just way out of the question?
I think it is an excellent way to save some coin and know exactly what you have.

I had Jack Laswell in the Dallas area build mine-214-478-4561. He is very well known in the Buick GN world. He gets Buck GN engines an 200-4R's shipped to him from all over the US. Does excellent work on all builds. Started his career with Rolls Royce. I just put my shifter in, few images

Going to be dropping in a 1967 Olds 330 Hi Compression motor in at hte end of the month. Motor is all stock except for a pair of headers, Edelbrock 7111 manifold, Edelbrock 650 CFM carb, and a deep 7 qt oil pan.
The car is going to be a street/strip car. I drive it to work maybe one or two days a week. I also drive it back and forth from the track. Using radial tires, but could go to a street slick in the future. Not too sure about that one though
