TransGo do it yourself auto shift 4L80E
I just got a email from TransGo advertising a fully auto shift transbrake valve body kit for the 4L80. From what I understand, you can set the brake in first gear and manually shift it, or set the brake in D3, once the brake releases it will automatically shift 1,2,3 as normal.
I built a 4L80 for my cat probably 5 years ago, I have been dragging my feet to take apart a running driving car. This might motivate me to actually get around to putting it in!

Sounds cool, the link went no where. By the way, those $35 Amazon trans controller allow manual shifting, Jake Shoe sells one too. The only thing that doesn't work is the lock up torque converter. I did the regular Transgo shift kit, supposedly they do full line pressure and will bark the tires at higher rpm shifts.
The easiest and cheapest way to make a 4L80 full manual is to supply power to the shift solenoids, and then use the internal pressure manifold to supply a ground to each solenoid as you shift thru the gears. You can do that for free, other than buying the trans fluid. To get lockup requires grounding a 3rd wire. The information is on YouTube. Obviously, that results in full line pressure.
I know for a fact that doing this combined drilling the valve body plate will result in very firm shifts. There are also inexpensive accumulator delete plates that eliminate the accumulators.
I have always wanted a transbrake, this might be exactly what I need.

I see this Transgo trans brake is brand new, didn't see a price. It probably won't be much cheaper than a basic controller but I get that isn't the main reason for this transbrake. Plus figuring out TPS isn't cheap, no matter what carb I use, currently a tuned Qjet. Honestly I am not a fan of these lockout shifters like this TCI Fastgate, a pain when in a hurry. Yeah, I am pretty sure these controllers do exactly what I could do internally, full line pressure, it will bark the tires on occasion. I tried grounding what I thought was the right wire, didn't do anything. The lock up worked when I had the Holley Terminator X Max. I don't remember if I did the Transgo 4L80EHD2 before it **** the bed or after?
I just placed an order with summit, while I didn’t order it yet I did check on the price for the transbrake kit. It runs 340 bucks, that about a 3rd of the cost of the other auto shift transbrake valve body’s I have installed in the past.
