shift kits
The B&M and TransGo kits do basically the same thing, they just go about it differantly. The B&M is a cheaper kit, they have you drill the holes in the spaacer plate larger, and disable the 2-3 accumulator. The TransGo keeps the asccumulator functutional, has you drill the holes a little smaller, but includes springs to increase line pressure and a stiffer 2-3 shift valve spring so it goes into 3rd gear a little later. The TransGo kit also includes the parts to convert the valve body to a manual/auto. Put the shifter in 1st gear, it will stay in first gear until the engine blows up, or you upshift. It will also downshift to any gear, at any speed. Most stock valve bodies wont hold 1st gear or downshift above a certain point. The TransGo is a more refined, "civilized" shift kit more suited to a daily driver. I prefer the B&M shift kit for cars that have a loose converter, the TransGo kit shifts a little softer at part throttle, with a loose converter you sometimes cant feel the shifts. The B&M TransPac includes all the features of the TransGo, with the harder shift. I can also tell you the TransGo instructions suck, they assume you know how the valve body goes together and just tells you what parts to change. The B&M instructuions are step by step, they tell you exactly what to do and how to do it. Much better if your not familiar with transmission repair
Yes, but you can use factory Low Control Valve spring instead of the blue spring in the TransGo kit and retain the downshift-override function.
I did this on my car so I wouldn't inadvertently downshift at a high speed and trash my transmission.
