TH350 Speedometer Gear "0" Ring Source?
TH350 Speedometer Gear "0" Ring Source?
For some odd reason my speedometer gear "0" ring is missing, hence a bunch of oil leaking out.
Anybody have a source?
The kind folks at Fusick suggested I try a marine store, as they have tons of those kinds of things (I live near plenty - so that is not a problem) but I have not been able to figure out the size I should be looking for (don't have a lift at home to get under and measure)
For a 72 Cutlass

Transtar industries is the first supplier that comes to mind as they have a warehouse locally and I can pick my stuff up there. They ship anywhere and their prices are fair and competitive with most ebay prices. I also may have the seals you need as I have a surplus of seals and all that stuff.
I bought speedo gears to correct speedometer error as well as O-ring and driven gear seal from PATC Transmissions, 2134A East Texas Street, Bossier, LA 7111. 888-877-1008 or 888-201-2066. This was after reading an article in one of the magazines on correcting speedometer error.
Pretty sure I got my driven gear from PATC (http://www.transmissioncenter.org) and I got the speedo cable from Fusick - both in the last 2 years - so everything in that area is fresh.
Had somebody else (who has a lift) put them in for me, so I am not sure where or what went wrong. Just trying to correct the leak....and I think I am barking up the right tree....just want to be sure I am not buying useless parts (even if they are pretty inexpensive)

Head to your nearest transmission repair shop. They probably have hundreds. Most 4x4 transmissions have the speedo cable on the transfer case, making the o-ring for the speedo housing in the trans unused.
