So, the car had third gear last fall, but not this spring. I thought it would be the vacuum modulator, but the books say if you have 1-2, it's not the modulator. The TV cable seems just fine, so the next on the list is a stuck 2-3 valve.

Can any one tell me if I will be able to get a pick at the 2-3 shift valve with the pan off or does the whole assembly need to be pulled out?

 

May want to check vacuum hose going to modulator, sometimes they crack in the darnedest places and sometimes trans fluid will swell them up enough to not pull a sufficient vacuum.
