Kick down T-400 Adjistment?
Hey guys so when I drive the car easy hit the pedal a little bit The kick down works awesome if I hit it too hard it goes into first when I don’t want it to.
is there an adjustment to make it come in later as far as not kicking down into first gear when you’re in third and you only want to go to second?
I don’t see adjustment at the electrical connection on the pedal.
I have a 71 442 with two wires at the connection By the switch at the pedal.
It almost seems nicer to keep it disconnected and shift it manually so you can control the shift a little better.

The switch has nothing to do with what gear it kicks down to. That process is determined by the transmission based on vacuum and rpm. If the transmission kicks down near wot, then the switch is adjusted properly.

The TH400 is electric, the switch should close at WOT. Other than making sure the switch provides power at WOT, there isn’t much adjustment possible.
Most 400 won’t make a WOT 3-1 downshift over 15-20 mph, depending on valve body calibration. Are you positive it’s going back to first gear?
