Hi, i bought a pair of kick panels with speakers built into them and i've installed the passenger side one with no problem but the driver's side is going to be problematic with the position of the parking brake pedal. I haven't removed the existing panel as just by eye balling it i can tell the new panel is not going to go in. or at the very least the PB pedal is going to be right up against the speaker housing.

anyone else experience this and do you suggest a work around. I can't remember where i bought these from, OPGI or Parts Place. They've been on my shelf so long i can't remember, just finally getting around to upgrading my sound system.

 

They should work unless you pedal has been bent. You might try loosening the bolt up front and see if it will slide over a scooch.

I used them in my car and the pedal does not interfere. I may have tweeked the pedal position a bit. I am not sure if I had to tweek the pedal on this car or my last but regardless it was not much.

 

okay i guess my next question is exactly how is that pedal temporarily detached? there's a plate that comes out and then the pedal.

 

Went right in my '68, pedal is close but does not come in contact.

 

At the part of the pedal closest to you is a small bolt, 3/8 or 7/16" I think?? You might need to be on your knees to see it as it goes straight up. If you remove that, you can gently pry the pedal assembly towards the center of the car a little bit. There are 2 1/2" nuts below the master cylinder area if you need to remove it completely. Also the parking brake cable, but it is slips right out once you have the parking brake loosened up.

 

Same here - it went right in and there's plenty of clearance.

Are there any speaker kick panels that include the vents and provision for the vent pulls?

Hello. I have a 70 442 vert with A/C and I have infinity speakers I want to install in similar molded kick panels, but the metal panel behind the kick panel needs to be cut out to accommodate these deeper speaker magnets. Any problems or experience with this issue? Thank you. Tom

 

I have Pioneer speakers in mine and I can't use my E brake.

No, seriously, if you look at the above posts you'll see that the bracket can be loosened and slid over a bit. I did this, and mine works just fine.
