Dual Gate Shift Cable

I have a '68 Cutlass that has a '68 Olds dual gate shifter. I need to replace the cable. Is there a special shift cable or certain length that I need to get? Will any Turbo 400 shift cable work?
Thanks, Mike

It has to be a Dual Gate cable as it is a different length than the regular shifter cable.

It is available from various Olds resto places: Year One, Fusick, The Pats Place, OPGI, etc.

Here's a couple of links. The first one says it's a new GM cable and the second says it's a repro.

I've checked out some of those web sites. The original '68 shifter came with a 53" (?) cable. Most places are advertising 30"+ cables. There are also GTO His/Hers sifter cables that are cheaper that are out there. Is there a required length? Is my 53" cable really the original one?

SO, the trans didn't move....
the shifter might be oh maybe 8-10" farther back if it's a dual gate.

23" more cable puts the shifter in the back seat unless you route a lot of extra cable in a loop or something.

Let's hear the experienced DG gurus explain the need for and use/ routing of a 53" cable.
