Gentleman I met and I have been discussing an alteration he is making to his 71 442 convert. Car is an original floor shift 455 with a turbo 400 trans. He is changing the trans to the TH-700-R4 (overdrive unit, I understand) and wants to use a dual gate shifter. We have been looking for a way to adapt the shifter to the transmission. Shiftworks.com has a number of conversion kits available but nothing for the Oldsmobile Dual Gate.

Anyone have any suggestions? Contacts? Information that might be helpfull?

That is a tough one.

 

Hurst briefly sold an aftermarket version of the dual gate for the 4spd automatics in the 1980s. Good luck finding one now.
