attaching 69 cutlass console
Hello, I am about to install a floor shift in my 69 cutty. When I place the floor shifter on the tranny tunnel, I can see where it should mount via the small divets in the floor. I Noticed one at the very front, two a little farther back and two more at the back location. These all match up really well. My questions are,
1.what kind of screws (self tapping maybe?) do I use to attach the shifter to the floor?
2. Is there any kind of sealer/gasket required at the screws and under the shifter.
3. Where exactly does the shifter cable go through the floor?
There is a divot in the general area of where the cable might go through, but it isnt really lined up correctly.
Thanks BB

From what I have in my assembly manual A body cars ie cutlass should be mounted in the front holes of the back 4 on the shifter and B body cars use the back holes .
the bolts should be 1/4-1/4-5/8 self tapping screws at 72-94 lb in
I would think if you want to seal them you can use some body seam filler
now these are coming out of a 67 manual but I would think they would be the same since the shifter is the same through 69
hope this helps out

Console mounting
I can take photos of a floorpan with the console off this weekend or early next week if that would help. I can also show some measurements of where the cable hole is in relation to the mounts. There should be a raised mount attached to the floorboard that attaches under the glove box portion of the console. You may have to fabricate something for that. John

John, I got the mount for under the glovebox portion and need to attach it to the floor as well. It was torched out of an another junker and I was able to get the height measurements from that. Pictures would be great. Thanks for you help

Hey bigbrother, I took the photos and am uploading them to my photobucket site right now. You can use the following link to check them out. I think I got everything you need, but if not let me know. John
