Ebay Toro vert. Looks cool but functional ram air? No windows or top? Really falls short in my book for 79 G's.

Its definitely the sportiest second generation Toronado I have ever seen. Although its not worth anywhere near $80,000.00

That poor 'ol girl. The seller is a dreamer. Anyone with a saws-all could build the same thing for 20k, and to what end? Just buy an Eldo drop top.

 

Boy I like this one. The hood, seat covers, drop top... everything but the wheels. $80K? bahaaa haaaa!

 

There was a 72 Toro for sale back in the late 80's where someone chopped off the top & tried to get creative with marine snaps.

Basically the entire top would R&R as desired.

It was a turd.

 

Sorry but a roofless car does not a convertible make...Call it what it is, a car with the roof cut off, albeit well done...No ragtop or removable hardtop means not a convertible...Hate when people call them convertibles...This car is nice though but not 80 G's nice...I have seen some folks cut a roof off neatly and then fabricate some form of attachment to re-install the roof...Still looked rough when the roof was off though...

 

From him I would expect a 455 powered generator with electric motors in all four corners

 

I like the way they did the hood but the cover they added to the headlights looked better left alone I think.

 

Very interesting car. There are several parts that someone spent a lot of time claying up, casting, and finishing.

The workmanship is very nice.

I think they did a great job on the hood. Look how well it matches the power dome in the stock Toro hood.

The tonnau cover with the speaker grills is nicely integrated with the dual CHIMSL.

Nowhere does it say that its a convertible.

I say Henrick has some talent. It has nice proportions with the windshield raked back.

According to thefreedictionary.com a speedster is:
1. A person that habitually drives fast

2. A fast or sports model car.

 

That's the stock windshield.
The scoops are nicely done, but still look out of place on a personal luxury car. It's the automotive equivalent of a transvestite.
This car is proof that it's hard to improve upon David North's original 2nd Generation Toronado design, which was first penned for Cadillac.
My dad bought a '73 when new, and I drove a '71 all through the 1990's. My brother had two '76 Toros back in the 1980's and, we just purchased a '77 XS for my son's first car.

 

That was for sale at Houston auction last spring. No sale at 17500. This is definitely one of those it won't get back out what was put in. It's a cool rig but I thought the bid was strong.

Well, for $79K you would think they would remove the dead bugs from the front of the car for pictures???

Is the 'zip tied' extra chunk of radiator hose on the upper radiator hose that leans against the ALT bracket part of the $79K customization?

Not having ever heard of this guy, I googled him. Per Wikipedia his best known creations are the Aston Martin DB9, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Fisker Karma, and BMW Z8.

First generation Toros look awful without their beautiful fastback, but in this body style it really looks good. Except for the rims...

 

Eh. I'll never understand why people think cars are worth ANYTHING after they sawzall off the roof. Even if their a famous car designer. Theres some goober with a mid 80s Cutlass with big "rims" that says "convertible" in the add title, then you read it and he says "roof was cut off to make it into a convertible but it takes a lot more work than I thought, looking to sell it" or something like that and he wants $2500. I think it has air ride too. It'd be a good parts car if you could get it cheap enough. There was also a 72ish Lemans up a year or so ago again, with huge rims, again, from NYC, painted some florescent green with the roof hacked off. It would have been a nice car if he hadn't tried making it a convertible. Instead it sat on CL for like $2000 for months before the add went down. Did he sell it? or give up? Good question.

 

Agreed yamahondarider, and red70442 is right; I read it again. They call it a speedster in the title but describe the body type as a convertible.

I couldn't have said it better. If it does not convert, it is not a convertible.

Similar but to a lesser extent the same is true for the guys that chop tops and do nothing with the sideglass. If you can't chop a top and still have windows that roll up and down and seal what's the use.
