my motor smokes a lil upon start up but eventually stops is that normal

i have 70 model cutlass with a 350 rocket and i just noticed upon initial start up my motor has a lil smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes while idling it doesnt last long i was just wondering is that normal because i never really paid any attention to before so can anyone tell me wether or not this is a normal function or not?

Well, my guess it is a bit of condensation if it's white. If it disappears quickly I would not worry about it.

Valve guides/seals wear around 100k - probably getting there.
A good high-mileage oil oil will reduce it.
My son used Slick-50, and said it's gone, on his Probe, but I can't confirm that.

That'd be my guess as well. But what color is it? Maybe it's running rich on startup? That would be black smoke, and blue would be oil. You could tell by the smell too.

its white smoke and its just a lil bit its like as soon as i crank the car and it starts to idle i get this smoke but in about a minute or as soon as the car reaches normal idling speed its gone and it only happends early in the morning when im getting ready for work. the rest of the day i can start it and no smoke

That sounds like condensation to me. Happens a lot more on cooler/cold mornings, all cars do it, it's normal.
