So my car has sat for a weeks as I have been busy with other things. Decided the other day to go and fire it up and maybe go for a cruise around the block. As my wife was getting in the passenger side she complained that some critter had chewed all the petals off of her flowers in the flower bed beside my Toronado. Yeah Yeah I thought who cares. So I fired the car up and it started just fine. Don't ask me why but I decided to pop the hood just to check things over before pulling out of the drive because I had not looked under the hood for quite a while. Well, surprise, surprise! Said to my wife I know where your flowers went, come and look under the hood. Virtually the entire top of the intake manifold was covered in the remains of her flowers. So turned off the car, vacuumed out all the mess and then spent time looking for chewed wires but luckily none were found. Why they would be making a nest during our latest heat wave is beyond me. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Argh in my area weve had several nights in the 30s recently. I know as soon as the temps dip i need to set out mouse traps in my sheds or my toys will be junk. Ive got 5 or 6 in the past week. As if old car owners dont haveenough to do add rodent remediation to thelist.
Years ago I had a possum build a nest behind the air cleaner on my 78 Olds, did it in one night. I chased it away, cleaned out the nest, and it was back there the next morning. I had to drive to a forest preserve 10 miles away and kick it out there to get rid of it!
