OHHH YEAHHH! I don't know if I would want my Olds on Roadkill though. Those guys are pretty rough on their projects. That looks like a cream puff.

Lots there to love but the "25 footer" was a reference to how far you have to be away to consider her a looker!

Is the Oxford Gray an Olds color? What year? I'm doing a resto on my '68 4-4-2 and would consider the Oxford Gray.

Yep, it was Toronado only in 1970 but I think Buick used the same color with a different name. It is GM paint code 16. It has a really nice metallic deep gray bluish tint to it. Like I said previously, it really grew on me after I saw it on a car and not only in an ad or dealer book.

She hasn't run regularly for many years so I gave her a good workout the last two days. It was hot and humid, and I did a couple hundred miles in traffic jams and up to 120 (according to the speedo), to loosen everything up...saw a little bit of smoke here and there but ran great. Gonna have to change all the fluids again...oil's black! Trans oil looks ok but I can tell the trans hasn't been that hot for a long time. It started to leak trans oil but haven't figured out from where yet...it's even up on the brake distributor and firewall. Just don't feel like laying on the ground in the driveway today to see what I can see!

For where all you're seeing the evidence of a leak, I'd guess you have a split/hole in the boot/seal of the (left) inboard CV joint, or possibly a leaking (left) hub-to-final drive seal - if so, obviously the "splatter" will not be red/brown ATF fluid, but CV grease or gear lubricant - check for color and/or smell. Good luck.

The drips seem to be trans oil (red) but I haven't really looked yet...I'm thinking tomorrow I'll take a peek but I will certainly check those areas you mentioned when I'm down there. Thanks

Boots good, but I think some of my trans oil leak problem is overfill....seems there's a bit too much in there, oops!

Most trans leaks are at the pan gasket, in which case the leaking fluid stays low, on the pan and underbody. However, with your leak showing up so high (brake booster and distributor), that's why I questioned alternative leak locations.. Now that you find your transmission is overfilled, it could well be that fluid "cooked" out the vent on top of the trans, with that high location allowing for trans fluid to show up in your reported (upper) locations. Overfilled transmission fluid is a lot easier to deal with, especially since you're going to be changing the fluid anyway.

On further inspection I looks like I also have a driveshaft seal leak going on that same side...big fun garage time for the winter!

Those are Western mags, they made two types during the 1970's for the FWD cars (Toro's and Eldo's)....
