77 Toronado Steering Wheel

77 Toronado Steering Wheel
I am trying to restore a 77 Toronado. The steering wheel on it is badly cracked and worn. I don't want a modern day replacement but would rather have a steering wheel from that era. I know that there are places that can redo my existing wheel but I don't want to put the car out of commission for 4-6 weeks while that gets done. So I have been searching high and low for a used Toro steering wheel but with no luck. I was wondering if the steering wheel from the 98 of that period is similar and will it work - ie just bolt on. If it does then I could use that while mine is being refurbished and still keep the car running. This would open up the potential to find a replacement I think. Any information on where to locate a new used steering wheel and/or advice would be appreciated.

Byron, I'm not sure if the Delta 88/98 steering wheels will fit your Toronado. I'm sure someone will chime in that knows.
I suggest you repair the steering wheel yourself. If you're handy you can rent a steering wheel puller and restore the steering wheel over a weekend. This kit works great:

Thank you so much for the lead. I was not aware that you could get a kit to restore a steering wheel yourself. May give this a shot. Worst case is I mess it up and have to send the wheel out to pro to restore.
But even if I can just fill the cracks sand it smooth and wrap it in a steering wheel cover, it will be better than it is now.

I've got a 1978 Red steering wheel that's in good condition. Here's an old thread with photos of the interior. Mine has the cloth interior in it. John

Byron, if you want a steering wheel cover I suggest this one:

I installed one in my 71 98 because I've been to lazy to use the Eastwood's kit on it. I did use the Eastwood's kit on a steering wheel for my father's 69 Delta 88. It turns out great. Unless you want to have your car next to Jay Leno's Toronado in the Concurs d' Elegance then the Eastwood's kit is the way to go.
