1978 Toronado for parts? Updated 2/3/2017

Hi All
A buddy purchased a bunch of stuff in an estate sale which includes a 1978 Toro. I haven't seen it yet but he said the interior looks pretty good. The downside is squirrels or pack rats have been living under the hood. With the price of scrap metal I can get it pretty cheap, but it would take at least half a day to drag it home. Any interest in parts from you guys? If there's enough I'll get it, but if nobody is interested I'll pass. If someone wanted the whole car and were willing to pay for shipping we could do that too, I just don't know if there's enough demand for this vintage of car.

403 engine
maybe the elusive 4A block, you know the one.

Crank Triggered ign if it is '77 instead of '78

That's all I can think of.

Interior fits into Big Cars of the 77-79 era also. Dash, etc.

Hey John,

I could definitely be interested in parts from this Toro. Please let me know the color of the interior as well as condition. If you can, please send me pics of as much of the car as you can.

thanks!
John

Here's a few pictures I got today. The car runs with gas poured down the carb, but the tires are flat and its kinda sunk into the dirt. So no idea if the transmission works, if brakes are frozen, etc. Also there's no title for the car... bummer. Rust in the rear quarter, rear bumper badly rusted (Coast Car?) mint red dash, most of the interior looks good. The front end looks good too. Let me know what you guys think. John

sexy 70's pillow cushion seating!

And the block's casting number is?

Behind water pump, atop timing area, fwd of intake.

If the block says "4A" here and not 4B, rejoice!

I've got a couple people interested in the dash pad, and one more asking about other interior parts. It may be a couple more weeks before I get it home. When I do I'll go down the list offering parts to people in the order they contact me in. John

I thought the MISAR system was used in both 1977 and 78. Check for the crank trigger hardware. I'd be interested in that system for collecting reasons.

Due to snow and mud I thought I'd missed out on this car. But a local tow company was able to drag it out of the field for me and delivered it today. A member here has already expressed interest in the interior, so he has first dibs.

Joe, I don't think it has the MISAR, that had an extra disc on the crank, behind the pulley, correct?

Octania, just the common 4B block

I took a ton of pictures and posted them on my photobucket site. The link is:

If anybody has any questions or wants to see close-ups of anything let me know.

Yes, there should be a crank pickup for the MISAR system.

Hi All
Now that I have more time I'm trying to get my parts and parts cars organized. I'm looking at dismantling this car, I've sold a few odds and ends but still have most of the car. I pulled the steering wheel off a while back and put that on ebay this past week. Unsure on what the value is, there are no cracks in the red plastic but the chrome ring is falling apart and there is some wear on the horn bar, the wood grain pattern is worn on the corners. I've listed the wheel at $49.99 and the link is:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/132079864326...84.m1555.l2649

Much of the trim on the car is good, there is rot in places on the rear quarters, I think the nose is sound. The red interior is nice and that's what caught my attention when I picked up the car. The power drivers seat works, I tested that shortly after getting the car home. I've made a commitment to a member here for the floor brackets that the 60/40 seats bolt to. So... I'll be listing parts with prices as I pull them but if there's anything specific your interested in let me know. John

I will take the steering wheel. This is a big help. Thank you so much. I have sent you a pm with a few other items that I could use if they are still available. Can you let me if they are still available and pricing and payment information.
