V8 Intake Manifold Lift Bracket Washers

Hello Joe,

I am working on a '71 W-30. I have seen these engine lift brackets installed three ways.

One is with no washers on the bolts. This page from the engine assembly manual clearly states the requirement of 12 washers:

This pic I found on the web has them between the bolt and bracket (I know it is a '67 but I have seen them between the bolt & bracket '71 cars too):

The Inlinetube guys have theirs under the bracket (this is a '72 but. . . );

Can you tell me which is correct?

Thank you.

On aluminum intakes, Washers under the bracket. Iron manifolds, No washers.

That's the problem with the '71 Engine Assembly Manual; it doesn't have lots of pretty pictures.

Look at the '70 manual instead. Page 16 shows a pretty picture and describes the washer usage.

I thought the tube/ wiring holder tabs on the rocker cover went the other way 'round. With tube clips upward.

Not with OAI; I assume it was so the retaining spring for the OAI top could be easily secured/removed.
