1947 P/S steering upgrade options

I purchased a 47 about a year ago and have installed the disc brakes etc but want to upgrade the steering, I already have a tilt column fitted so that part is covered.
Has anyone upgraded to a rack and pinion or a P/S box ? I am running a SBC so pump won't be an issue. Also the box fitted has the pitman arm coming off the top of the box, this I have not seen before and I have Buicks Pontiacs and Cadillacs....., is that correct ? any pictures of a standard box would help as it looks a bit odd.
Thanks for any help.

No , this is the type steering used in 1947 .
This steering gear was used from the late thirties up to and including 1948 .
