I bought a Lares for mine. I got the 10.1 ratio, should be quick, I think they also have a 12.1, or stock ratio as well. It came with a new rag joint. They use IROC internals for the 10.1 ratio. They have the 3 bolt or 4 bolt housings. The one i bought had the same casting number as my old one, its a 4 bolt. I bought mine from Rock Auto, but you can also Google Lares Steering and buy direct from them. I havnt tried it yet, but it is a GM rebuilt box, It looks nice, all shiny and new...ish. Your pitman will bolt right on. I think there is a 75 dollar core charge you will get back if you want to send your old one in, after you get the rebuilt one. Your old rag joint should bolt right up too.

So if you have manual steering now you will not be able to re-use the pitman arm. The hole on the box side of the arm is smaller than a Power Steering pitman arm. I did the Jeep Grand Cherokee swap in my '66 442. Details of this swap can be found on this posting: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ap-w-pics.html

Rock Auto has several for you to choose from, and they come with the rag joint. As mentioned, you will need a matching pitman arm, as the MS one won't work.

Is the inside diameter of the power steering gear pitman arm larger than the manual? I have a gear off of a 76 trans am and my manual gear pitman arm is not large enough... also the shaft for the rag joint is larger... do I go back to the drawing board or do you think the pitman arm for power steering will work? The gear was given to me, so the price was right! but only if I can make it work.
