Dropping a 66 delta
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone out there has dropped or know of a dropped 66 delta. I want lower the car about two inches all the way around. I saw a previous thread about using 91 - 96 caprice coils on a 61 super 88, would something like this be possible? I'm pretty new to the game and any info on this would be appreciated. Not looking for a corner carver, just want somethin to look good cruising Main Street.

In the "major build" section use search, type "my 66 delta 88" good thread about a 1966 Delta. I like the 1966 88's. I have a Dynamic 88 convertible tucked away that I hope to do some day. Ken

I'd like airbags but they are just way to far out of my price range. I'm building the car just so I have something cool to drive around in on Saturday nights so I'm on a pretty extreme budget for the time being. Kennybill Those cutlass coils seem like they would definitely be worth trying, thanks for the info!

I would use a cut off wheel, no torch. Measure height, cut "short," test height, cut again as needed. I just put "cargo" springs in the rear of my grey car. The springs arr shorter than original in height but thr car sits higher now, stiffer springs. I'm debating to trim a little or not.I think I'll wait for "spring" and drive it a bit before I decide. I dont think you can cut the rear springs because there is a tighter curl at each end? They used to sell spring clamps that would pull the coils together and if reversed you could spread the coils apart for height... This would be a cheap way to go for trial...

I think these were a JC Whitney/ Corner Auto Parts Store speed/performance item found in the area of coil spring spacers. I have never used them but saw them for sale back when airshocks and wide rear rims and tires were the rage. Gee, guess I am dating myself.
