Im doing a clean up of the rear suspension area of my car and
was wondering if the sway bar is the correct one.
I pulled it out before taking pictures as Im going to clean it up.
Its sanded bacck ready for paint same as the springs etc.
I ve read a few threads on this but still not sure if this is standard
factory.
That has been fabricated by someone. The factory rear bars for these cars were only installed on police package cars (RPO B07). Factory bars are bent from a solid bar, with the side ears formed to provide for the bolt holes. They did not have welded on legs like this.
Thanks Joe just thought I would check incase I did score one of thos rare bars.
Previous owner told me it was a factory option and I didnt know any better not
having any experience with these cars.
Never mind I ll continue freshening up the diff area.
The LCA's have been boxed.
Rear suspension is in decent condition considering its a 60yr old car.
Just needs a good clean up and I ll check bushings while Im under there.
Im hoping to get the car back on the road early next year.
Just want to complete a maintance over haul for longevity and formost safety
While I have the springs out Im going to add a 20mm plate to compensate for
spring sag. Found that olymipic wieght plates fit just right under the springs.
I ll add s small sleeve to the centre which will bring the spring mounting base
on the axle back to standard
Finished the rear suspension check and clean.
Bushes all good.
Springs, upper control arms and sway bar painted gun metal grey.
Cleaned the shocks up they are still working fine.
Id previously cleaned up the diff cover after a fluid change.
Not happy with the exhaust so thats on the list for further upgrade.
Before and after.
