1968 442 tubular control arms or stock ?

Hi out there. Needing to replace my control arms in the front on 1968 442. Can anyone recommend a tubular set to replace the stock arms ? Does it make it feel more stable ? I replaced my 64 nova front end with tubular and it made a huge difference.

Thanks for any help.

The tubular arms usually have more caster built into them. The increased caster helps w with a more pronounced return to center feel.

the older alignment specs for our cars calls for 0 or even negative caster. If you increase caster to as much as you can get w OE control arms (maybe ~+2° is achievable) it will lend a better more stable feel to your steering
(assuming you using modern radial tires)

The tubular arms are (hopefully) more rigid than the stamped OE control arms and w the increased caster built in they should be a good upgrade.

IDK if there is a number thats too much positive caster ? m sure there is but i dont know if its acheivable even w tubular arms ? eric anyone ?

With stock control arms the most caster you can get is around +2. With aftermarket you can get +5-6 sometimes more. If your not autocross type racing or extreme slalom type driving chances are the stock setup will work fine.

Ive got OE front uppers and lower CAs. The alignment guy said he got about + 2* on each side so that jibes. The RTC is better and highway tracking is better. I also have the quick ratio steering box which is a nice upgrade to the steering as well.

i looked at the UMI arms they specifically mention increased caster built into their parts.
