cylinder head gasket wrong?

cylinder head gasket wrong?

i ordered a fel pro gasket set for my 330 cui. it is too small.it covers the upper cooling holes complete and the down ones half! is that normal? should i make the holes in the gasket bigger? thank you

Do you have the old gaskets to compare them to? Non't know much about that engine, maybe the holes are suspose to be partially covered?

That's perfectly normal, the holes are purposely semi-covered like 442Harv mentioned.

Keep in mind that those holes are there to allow the sand cores to be knocked out when the block is cast. They are much larger than they need to be for cooling. In fact, the holes need to be restricted to a certain size to force the coolant to flow all the way to the back of the block and not just past the first cylinder, into the head, and back out the t-stat.
