Need help

Hi I'm new to this forums but I bought a 84 cutlass with a 72 olds 350 that had starter problems but fixed it. Last week I took it out to a car show in the mornin it ran fine all day till at night on the way back it started actin like it was runnin out of gas stopped at a gas station and pumped gas turned it on around 25-30 mph it did the same thing again so I pulled over and towed it home . The next mornin I notice the alt. belt fell off the bottom pulley but car still turns on thanks for any help

I would guess that you had been running off the battery. I would reinstall the belt, charge the battery, and go from there.

^^X2. She just ran out of electricity
from running the headlights at night
with no alternator.
Charge the battery as Eric suggests, and
you should be go to go.

So it's a shifting problem? It won't shift out of 1st until 35-40 mph?

Check the TV cable connection on the throttle linkage, this effects shifting.

So are you saying that when it's warmed up, it won't go any faster than 25 to 30mph, but other times it won't go faster than 35 to 40mph?

Or are you saying something else?

Does it ever go faster than 45mph? When? What happens when it does?

Does it have HEI or not?

Is English not your native language? If not, which language do you speak comprehensibly?
