Pulleys and water pump size

Ok so I know this has bee talked about many times but other than lately I have never had to deal with this issue before. I recently went to the stock fan clutch and fan and shroud because of cooling issues at idle. So I got my self a set of stock pulleys for an ac car which mine was. It all worked well until I hit high rpms and the belt went flying like a rubber band. So I decided maybe I should go to non ac alt. set up and I had the stuff so I swapped it and it still tossed the belt but that's because of the misalignment in the difference from ac to non ac water pump. the issue im having is finding the correct water pump. The tuff stuff water pump I found through summit say's it will work with ac cars 1970 and older and non ac cars 1971 and newer. My only guess to this is because of the different balancer for 71 72 ? I want to get this right once and for all . I did source some non ac pulleys . My question being if I get a set of say non ac pulleys for a 70 with my 72 style balancer will this water pump be correct for my set up ?

EDIT : I do have a pump that's shorter than the hd unit for ac I think if anyone knows the lengths that would be great too thanks.

Are those the pulleys from my garage that you're running? If so, I think you have to run the 6.1" water pump, and the KA steering pump with them. If you post the letter stampings I'll let you know the scoop.

Also, it helps to switch to the 307 alt bracket with the tensioner bolt.

I painted then and loaded them up with primer to make em nice lol. I have the long pump on now but the non ac alt. Braket. I did have the ac alt. Bracket when I set it all up but there is some mis alignment issue with it I think since we milled the heads and intake. The pump pulleys and crank pulleys line up great just the ac alt. Bracket is a bif f-d up I think. I went to the no ac alt. Bracket and it looks nice and straight but obviously does not line up with the ac pulleys lol.

Do you have a pic of the tensioner.
