Intake Manifold Question
Intake Manifold Question
does anyone know if the 4bbl stock intake has larger ports than a 2bbl stock intake? if that's the case when i get my 600 E-brock can i just use a stock 4bbl intake? i ask because a lot of people have told me that the E-brock performer and stock 4bbl intake are not that much difference so ill just score one off Craigslist if that's the case. thanks for the help!
The stock 4bbl manifold is for a spreadbore, with the two huge secondarys. The Edelbrock carb is a square bore, all four holes are the same size. They also have different bolt patterns where they attach to the intake. You can get an adapter if you want to stay with the factory manifold, otherwise you'll need an aftermarket intake that will accept the squarebore bolt pattern.

gotcha. any pros and cons with porting the stock intake a little bit? or will it not work well with the heads and cam? down the line i also plan on porting the stock heads and putting a mild cam but for now is it worth it?
IMO porting the intake will do more harm than good. Some bowl work and a quality valve job will increase low lift flow and are cost-effective upgrades. Increasing the size of the intake valves is also a good idea if it is in the budget. Again, IMO.
so ill pretty much just leave the stock intake alone then in that case. Ill just focus the machine work on my heads. any good streetable cams that i can use with my combo or will i throw efficiency out the window once i upgrade the cam?
