what cam for 330?
I am replacing my cam and lifters in my 330 high comp., 4 bbl engine. It has 40,000 miles on it but #4 cyl. was chattering and found a worn lifter. I am wondering if I can go with a little bigger cam and keep the stock valve train. Any ideas?

You sure can. With out any other mods, I would only go only slightly more. I would say sonething in the 204/208 @.050 range. Also remember your engine is a 45* cam bank angle, so the cam will have to be speacial order. You might want to get valve springs also. Can't go very much bigger for your converter is stock.

thanks for the response 64rocket. I looked at Mondello for cam/lifter/springs, but they don't specify a cba of 45* or 39* for their cams. There also seems to be some inconsistency on the cba of the 330's in every forum.

Various companies can do 45 deg. cams on a custom basis. You engine should be 45 deg but you can verify that with two dowels, one in a left side and the other in a right side lifter bore, and check the angle between them. If the included angle is 90 deg. you have a 45 deg. angle; otherwise the angle is noticeably less than 90 and is a 39 deg. block.
