I was going to replace my worn out water pump with a new one, until I thought about rebuilding the old one to keep it 'matching numbers'.
By browsing the forums I could not however make sense on what pump I am looking at here. It has the markings of "31290 A P 4" as seen on the images.
Is this original pump from the factory and does it have any value (enough to be worth rebuild)?
I found a comment here by @RocketDevo which says:
The 407586 water pump is the correct pump for all vehicles in 1971-72 with AC.
But this is not it?
Ah, and the vehicle in question is 1971 cutlass supreme 350 with AC
I believe that's a replacement water pump. The factory castings I'm used to seeing as the part number are on the area that the radiator hose attaches to. That's where the number RocketDevo is referring to would be located. See the photo below
