Ticking sound identification

Ok so fresh build just breaking it in. Have the comp 1441 rockers which I hear can be noisy. Also have headers which could be ticking. It doesn't go away when the engine warms up which makes me think valve train. I guess the only way to know is pull the valve covers and inspect while running. But should I expect a certain amount of tick from these valve trains? I've only ever run a stock valve train.

Oh and I didn't block the heat crossover in my rpm intake. I also read that those can tick? Anyone confirm that?

It wouldn't let me attach the audio but you can copy and paste this into a web browser.

Thought?

I agree that the lifter preload is a suspect.

My car has those rockers and headers and there aren’t any unusual noises from them.

And I see no way the exhaust crossover in an aftermarket intake manifold would be any different than a factory manifold.

That's next for me to check. Just took the valve covers off last night it was too late for me to be running my car so I'm going to check today.

What's the thoughts on adjusting these running vs cold

Fixed the link should work now. It was a permission thing

Shot avideo with the covers off. I hear most of the noise from valve 1. When I get the microphone next to it you can hear it good. This won't let me post the video but here is a link

I have always adjusted with the engine not running and never had any problems.

Its harder to see in slow mo. The loudest clicking is coming from there but they are all clicking. I used a hose to my ear. Debating trying to tighten then slightly while running.

In the slowmo vid it sure sounds to me like that loud clicking is in time with that first rocker.

Just pull that pushrod out and put it on a flat surface and roll it, if its bent you will know right there.

What can and lifter set. I have had 2 comp cams with just noisy lifters. They needed a little more than half turn to quiet them down. Another thing you should check for is lift clearance at the valve. I broke a rocker arm and bottomed it out on the valve stem boss on the cylinder head because a lifter stuck up and minimal lift clearance.

I know they are topline lifters that's all. Turns out the first rod was bent. Straightened out it best i could for now. That one quieted down however they are all ticking. I'd say it's like the sewing machine sound. I'm starting to think maybe the rods are to short.
