Rochester Quadrajet Question

I own a 1967 oldsmobile cutlass with a 330 ci, automatin transmission with air conditioning. It has a 1966 rochester quadrajet ser. number 7026250 which is a 1966 model w/o air, i dont know why whomever owned the car before me put this carb on but i think its just not running right because of this. Im looking for the stock carb that originally came on the car but havent found one yet it should be a 7027153. i did find one on ebay its number 7028251 which is stock for a 1968 olds with a 400/425 ci motor, will this carb work on my car? i know i can find an already rebuilt one that will work for the car for 300 dollars but im looking for an original with the round numbered brass tag on the right side of carb that needs rebuilding for under 100 dollars.

I looked up the spec of both carb. They are so close, that I'm sure you would not see any difference.Jets same size, Prim rod different. 250,.044,and 153 is .045. 250 has AU rods,.053, and the 153 rods are AT, .067. Looks like the secondries are the main difference. Did you try doing a carb rebuild?

yes i rebuilt th 1966 carb. it does run better since the rebuild but i know it could run much better. I also think the choke linkage was different from the 66 to the 67 and who ever switched them didnt do the linkage right. so you think the 1968 carb will work good on it then? i will order it and rebuild it as well.

Usually the primary throttle shafts are the biggest problem, as wear will cause a vacuum leak.
There are kits out there, and it'll probably straighten out the carb you have!
