Hello!

I have some problems with my 1985 Delta 88 (307 Code Y) because my carb. has several faults and needs an overhaul.

The easiest way is to install another working carburetor. If somebody has a Rochester Quadrajet in good working condition, I will buy it.

I had a '86 Grand Prix 2+2 that I put 235k miles on the 305.
I put 3 carbs on it in that time, as the primary throttle shafts continued to wear out, causing a vacuum leak.
I think the 'computor carbs' have cheaper material baseplates!
If you find a rebuilt with bushings on the shaft, it'll probably last forever!

the throttle body is made out of the exact same material-aluminum.

Yeah, but I've never worn them out so easy - maybe there's something different with the alloy - and I'm not the only one, as I've seen many 'computer' carbs worn @ the shaft!!

one difference i've noticed is more load on the primary shaft due to more mechanical load being connected to it. once the teflon paint rochester used wears off, the steel shaft chews into the aluminum pretty quick. most units had double throttle return springs and a tv cable connected to the driver's side end of the throttle arm. i also believe rochester increased the clearance of the throttle shaft in it's bore by a couple thousandths due to the '80s engines running warmer than their predecessors.
